Retiring...
from digital scrapbook designing. This has been a very difficult decision for me, one that's been weighing heavily on my mind for months...but the time has come. So...for this next week, until Saturday...my entire store is 60% off! That's a steal...so enjoy! :) All products will no longer be available...gone for good!

A monkey's birthday!!
I haven't posted anything crafty in a long time...that's because most of the crafty stuff I've been up to has been for Miles' first birthday party. And now that it's over...I can show you all!!
So Saturday was the big birthday party!! I have always wanted to put on a big, fun party in the summer...and Miles' birthday was the perfect excuse!! I began planning his party a couple of months ago. If you are ever looking for party ideas...this blog is such a good one! And this is the party that inspired my color choices. I decided to base the party loosely on a monkey theme...because Miles is our little monkey. That's been his nickname from day one...so I thought it fit perfectly! This is the invite that went out...I drew the monkey and loved how it turned out!

And here's our little monkey boy! Super easy to sew the number 1 on his shirt and I think I squealed when I found these little yellow Paul Frank swim shorts! :)

Guests began to arrive and this is what they saw first as they came into the backyard. I have taken photos of Miles every month on the 15th in the same chair with the same bear to show his growth. I saw the greatest idea to display photos on clipboards...so that's what I did here....along with the banners that I made.

Here's the table set ups. That cute yellow and black monkey is one my sister made for Miles...so cute! We had bananas and monkey's in a barrel as other table decor. :)

Here's the best photo I got of the table before everyone showed up. :)

Close-up look at the cupcake holders I made and talked about in this post. The monkey on top I got from here (love her work!!) and the monkey in the frame was something I drew up in PS. :)

Isn't he cute?? A close-up of the cupcakes too...these cupcakes are to DIE for!! I think they're a Martha Stewart recipe, but I don't remember for sure. The toppers were super easy to make in PS!

A photo of the drinking glasses...mason jars with paper straws. This was one of my favorite ideas from parties that I had looked at...super cute! In the back you can see one of the sock monkey's I made...he's holding a jar of banana runts! :)

And the other monkey...

After dinner of bananas, hamburger sliders, grilled pineapple, corn and black bean salad and olives (all black and yellow foods!!) we had a banana peeling/eating contest. Here's some of the kids trying to open their bananas! :)

We all had so much fun and it was so great to see it all come together. I will definitely be throwing more parties in the future...it was so fun!! I hope everyone that came had a good time...I know I did! :)
